I had the sincere pleasure today of getting to check-out an absolutely stunning archtop guitar that was superbly crafted by Bill Moll. Bill is an OLFer and used to be more active on the forum. Back in the day Stan who is also an OLFer worked with Bill and seeing this stunning instrument today made me think of both of our friends, Bill and Stan. In the pic holding his Moll archie is Brian Delany who is one of the best players that I have ever heard! Bri can do it all musically and makes his living playing out with his greatest interest these days being jazz. When Brian was younger he was the on-the-road personal guitar tech for Ted Nugent..... AND he survived too!!!! ![]() We see more guitars in a given day than most but rarely have I had the pleasure of seeing an instrument that was so superbly crafted and it sounds like heaven as well! I want one!!!! ![]() |

What kind of electronics does it have? I see a volume knob. Is there an under pickguard tone wheel? Nice Ax! |

Hey Danny: Yeah the headstock caught my eye too at once. I'm not at all into bling but this guitar pulled off the bling very well and to my eye it actually adds to the very cool look. The headstock shape shows a real deliberateness of craftsmanship in my view which is to me the mark of a true master. |

Bill Moll is a fabulous and, I believe, innovative luthier. In my view, he has advanced the art of the arch top considerably. The instrument you see in the photo is quite beautiful, but all of his instruments are that way. You folks who are encountering him for the first time ought to visit his web site: http://mollinst.com/ In particular, you should see what he can do with a nylon stringed guitar or a seven string. In addition to being a fine builder, he was very generous with his advice when I wrote him with a question years ago. He has announced his semi retirement. That is great for him. He has earned it. Bill, if you are reading, my heartfelt thanks to you for your accomplishments...and for answering my newbie question way back when, too. |

Terry: It's got a Moll Kent Armstrong USA hand-wound floating mini Humbucker as well as an internal Piezo. This guitar was ordered with every option available. Hope this helps. |

The Art Deco headstock immediately caught my eye. He must have some stories going back to the days with Nug. |

I was very lucky to have taken an on-line course with Bill that he gave a number of years ago on the MIMF. It took me a couple of years to finish up the archtop that I started during the course, but it turned out pretty good. |

Thanks for posting this Hesh. Beautiful guitar. Stan is still around. Doing more fishing now. I believe he sold all of his guitar building stuff. Great guy. |

Agreed, Bill's instruments are superb. We've had a couple come through Dream Guitars. Ken Jones Mountain Song Guitars |
